2000.09.13 - Before approx. 2 1/2 years we thought to meet a madman - Horst Schad.
What he wanted to do is nothing less than to put back 60,000 km across 28 countries WITH THE BICYCLE in these 2 1/2 years and punctually arrive to the Olympiade 2000 in Sydney. After the arrival we changed our opinion regarding "mad" :-)
It was unbelievable: He crossed the Himalaya and cycled through Kazakhstan - infinite strains and unestimateable dangers. He met the Pope, got to know the Dalai Lama and appointed by the city Olympia the official olympia Ambassador. The satellite telephone sponsored by GESAT made it always possible to phone at home, which in view of the route described above was indispensable.
We are proud of him and wait with bated breath for the publication of his book, which will surely be full of unbelievable pictures and experiences.
